Naval biographical online database
This project aims to establish accurate biographical information on those associated with the Royal Navy since 1660. The focus is on individuals but there is also a thorough listing of ships, including many vessels previously unrecorded in the standard references.
The first 150,000 of a projected 50 million entries have been processed to date - there is a Naval biographical progress page for current coverage. You can search the Naval biographical database by name of person, ship or place for free but there is a charge for specific data.
